On March 9, 2021 the first ever virtual Beyond the Perimeter tour will take place! The purpose of the Beyond the Perimeter events are to showcase communities outside of Winnipeg and to give newcomers to Canada a glimpse of what it’s like to live in a smaller city or town. Often in Manitoba people think that Winnipeg is the only option to establish one’s home – but that is far from reality. There are many wonderful communities outside the city that have job opportunities, more affordable housing and all the amenities one may need to put down new roots.
Due to COVID19 this tour of Steinbach will be online. Though this makes things different it does give the opportunity to have more people participate and it is free! Steinbach is a community of about 16,000 people and its about an hour drive from Winnipeg. If you are able to join us on March 9 you will hear from three different employers in Steinbach, learn about the newcomer serving organizations, get an understanding of the various schools for children and adults and hear from some newcomers that made the move from Winnipeg to Steinbach themselves.
